Welcome to MarkdownStudio.io. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using MarkdownStudio.io, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use our Service.

2. Description of Service

MarkdownStudio.io is an online Markdown editor that provides:

  • Real-time Markdown editing and preview
  • Multiple themes for document styling
  • Export functionality (HTML, PDF, etc.)
  • Document storage and management (for registered users)

We are currently in Beta, and features may change. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.

3. User Accounts

3.1 Registration

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

3.2 Account Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others, including intellectual property rights
  • Transmit any harmful, offensive, or illegal content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers

5. User Content

5.1 Ownership

You retain ownership of all content you create, upload, or store using our Service ("User Content"). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service.

5.2 Responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:

  • You have the right to use and store the content
  • Your content does not violate any laws or third-party rights
  • Your content does not contain malicious code or harmful software

5.3 Content Removal

We reserve the right to remove any User Content that violates these Terms or is otherwise objectionable, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and functionality, is owned by MarkdownStudio.io and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Service without our express written permission.

Our trademarks, logos, and brand names may not be used without our prior written consent.

7. Beta Service Disclaimer

Important: MarkdownStudio.io is currently in Beta. This means:

  • The Service may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features
  • Features may change or be removed without notice
  • Data loss may occur - please backup your important content
  • The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We are not liable for any damages resulting from use of the Beta Service

By using the Service during Beta, you acknowledge and accept these risks.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MARKDOWNSTUDIO.IO AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including:

  • Violation of these Terms
  • Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity
  • At our discretion for any other reason

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. We may delete your account and User Content, though we will provide reasonable notice when possible.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved through appropriate legal channels.
